Classes

Statler Classes.  I you run a Statler machine and would like to have additional classes on how the new software works, I will be glad to be your tutor. Such a class is $200 a day starting at 9AM and ending about 3 or  PM. Lunch and quilt fabrics needed in the class are provided. Class is one on one. Following the class, you may call me unlimited times to get whatever reminders and helps you need by phone. Once you use the program tools in class, the phone answers make a lot more sense because you are well acquainted with the terminology of the program by then.

Nuts and Bolts of Quilting Business class:
During this class we will discuss ways to work with customers, how to "read" quilts to figure out good ways to quilt them, how and where to purchase supplies like threads and battings, creating workorders or using a program to keep business records and create invoices. Tax isssues, how to come up with fees that you can live with, and other monetary topics will be covered with you having plenty of time to ask specific questions and get specific answers. If interested, call me to set a day and time that works for you. Cost is $150 and is held from 1PM until 4:30 PM

In Lieu of above Statler class or handguided class, choose to quilt one of your own quilts for use in learning to use your machine. Since pantographs and custom quilting are not done on the same quilt, these sessions will necessitate separate days of classes, and at least two quilts if you want to learn both techniques.

Choose a panto day, or a custom day.

Panto learning is at your home on your machine with your patterns so you improve right away in your own setting. Instruction costs $150 on top of mileage, and is taught in about 3 hours.

Custom quilt class is at your house on your handguided machine, at my studio if you have a Statler model and the zippered leaders and you can transport your quilt back and forth, or at your house if you wish to pay mileage.  We will load the quilt, stabilize it, and quilt the border, at least one block, and the sashing before we stop for the day. After that all that is required is for you to continue doing what we just did over the entire quilt until it is finished. You will learn how to roll the quilt, keep it as even and straight as possible, check thread tensions with changing thread types, learn to stabilize the quilt, learn to use several ways to transfer a design to the block and border areas and choose one of the ways you like best to actually transfer a design and quilt the block, border and sashing.
We may not get it fully quilted, but you will be well trained enough to continue to completion on your own once I have left. Learning to use the channel locks will be key to keeping the quilt as square as possible. If there is fullness in the quilt, we will discuss ways to minimize its effect on the finished product, you will learn to keep the quilt as square as possible as we proceed. And I sure you will learn a great deal more than I have listed here. $250 entire day. Note: If you have no channel locks I can show you a few tricks to move your machine as if there are channel locks.

Call me to set up a date and time for a class.

Autosketch Class
If you have Autosketch on your Statler set up, and you have always wanted to learn to use it, call me.
You can learn a great deal about using the Autosketch program in a one day, one-on-one class. You will be able to trace designs, figure out ways to best get around designs, become knowledgeable in setting backstitching lines incredibly close, and much more. You will also learn some tips for creating allover patterns. The tools in this program are amazing.
Class is held in my studio, or yours if you want to add mileage and can hook up both your computer and mine in your studio at the same time. I serve lunch if you come here. Class is from 9AM til abou 4 PM and is $250.

Create Your Own Class For Your Own Needs
$35 and hour. You set your beginning time you want. You come here, and whatever you want to learn, we shall do. When you are finished you say so.

This can be a piecing class, or a machine quilting class.

Borders Class
Ever wish you could get help with setting on better borders? You set up the starting time with me. Bring over your pieced quilt top, your border fabric- uncut, and your sewing machine. I will walk you through the steps to putting on a straighter, flatter border. Cost is $50 flat fee.

Learn to Make a Tee Shirt Quilt Class
It is quite expensive to have someone else make a tee shirt quilt top for you, so why not learn to make the top yourself, and have someone else just quilt it for you. You will save a LOT of money that way. Set the start time yourself. Bring your tees, your sewing machine, your thread, and yourself. I will teach you how to prepare the tees for sewing them into the quilt top, how to cut and sew on sashing, how to cut and sew on borders, and I will be right here to supervise you and help you while you get started. Once you know the techniques you will be able to head home and finish the work on your own.  The class will take about 3 hours. Bring your own lunch if your start time causes the class to go beyound your lunch time. Cost is $65. Complicated setting of tees is not covered in this class. This class assumes all tees will be cut to same size squares or rectangles for blocks.

Other Service: If you want to create a more difficult layout of a tee-shirt or memory quilt, and you would like me to help you plan a layout of the quilt using my EQ software, it is possible we could schedule an afternoon to work on it here. Cost of doing this is $20 an hour. But you will go home with a plan for cutting, and piecing of the quilt top, and we will have figured it out even if the blocks will be different sizes.
