About

I am Kay Freschly, and I love quilts and quilting. I have a master's degree in education, so I love teaching too.

This has been my business and my passion now since 2003!
I am a grandmother of one beautiful little girl. I have homeschooled and raised my two children, a young man, and a young lady, both of whom I am very proud. My husband and I live in rural Indiana, and yes, he really works the farm, and also works for an electrical utility as an electrical engineer.  I quilt and teach, and did I mention I quilt? :)

I am also pretty forgetful, which I why I get your desires for your quilt in writing before you leave my studio, and why taking orders by email can be a plus. Everything we write back and forth is also impossible to forget. I have real trouble with recalling names and faces of folks until I have met you several times and put some facts together with your name and face. I think it is a type of learning disability. So if I see you somewhere and don't speak, I am not ignoring you on purpose. Please just kindly come up and remind me who you are. I promise to try as hard as I can to remember you more each time we meet. I liken my forgetfulness to the proverbial absent minded professor. sigh.

I am not here quilting all the time. I go to quilt guild meetings when I can. I help take my husband's mom and my parents to doctor visits when asked to do so, and I spend time with grandbaby when I can. Like all folks I have to eat, grocery shop and do a bit of housecleaning: done sporadically except for in my studio which actually gets vacuumed daily. I have three cats which are NOT allowed in the studio. I regularly read my Bible, attend church, and work as a Gideon Auxillary*.

This is a Christian business because I, Kay, am a Christian. My life is surrendered to the Lord Jesus for His use and to His glory, so all I do is influenced by Him, and that includes my business.  I treat all customers as I would want to be treated. The Bible says I am to show no partiality. I do all my work as if doing it for the Lord Himself, so that means I always do my best for your quilts.

Why, you may wonder, did I become a Christian? I can only answer and say it was God's will because honestly the day I became a Christian I was on my way to becoming an atheist, but God had other plans. He placed me in a certain place at a certain time that led to me calling out to Him to challenge Him about His existence, and He answered me.

I will not shove Christianity down your throat when we chat or if you come to my studio. I will be happy to answer anyone's questions to the best of my ability and back up answers with the Bible, and I am happy to offer any customer, or online reader a small pocket sized New Testament. My husband and I belong to the Gideon minsitry and we purchase small New Testaments to give to anyone who wants one. I ask just that you read it for yourself and that you then ask God to show you the truth.

What will you discover if you read it? You will learn that God loves you. It says, ""This is love, not that we first loved God, but that God first loved us. God so loved the world (that includes you) that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever (also you) believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  It tells you about Jesus' life: the miracles He did, His death on a cross, how He paid the penalty for your sins so you won't ever have to do that, and His resurrection. Love like this is hard to resist. Because this is the only "life" we seem to see, hear, taste, feel, and smell, we often forget to think of an afterlife. The Bible tells us it exists and that we must be saved so we can spend that eternity time with the Lord. When bad times or illness hit we often (yes, I have too) question how the Lord loves us and yet still lets this happen. Well, He thinks on a much larger scale than we do for He is eternal, and we are limited in our time on this earth. We get stuck on the now, but He has our eternity in His consideration, and compared to the hardships that last but a short time here, He has offered us a wonderful eternity of no more tears, no more illness. Looking at our momentary troubles from that view point may help when times are tough.

May God bless you richly and abundantly. Jesus came to bring you life, abundant life, and to give you a peace that the world cannot know. Won't you read about it, and accept it? Accept Jesus and the love He offers?
May you have a blessed day.

*The Gideon International is a ministry arm of the church which is composed of business and professional men (and auxilliary women) whose only real goal is to lead men, women, boys, and girls to the saving knowledge of the Lord, Jesus Christ. We do this by placing free Bibles in hotel rooms, handing out free new testaments in various venues and around the world. Local church funds given to us go 100% to purchasing Bibles handed out in poor countries. Gideons themselves pay for Bibles placed in motel rooms, hospitals, nursing homes, doctor offices, and handed out personally. Our dues keep the headquarters functioning. If you are my customer and would like to receive a free New Testament that contains the Psalms and Proverbs also, just ask me for it. Sometimes we get so busy discussing the quilts that I forget to mention the Bibles until you are gone. If you are interested in becoming a Gideon and you fit the description of a business or professional man, or the wife of one, let me know.
